Mayor Lauds Street Pharmacist

Police Officers and the mayor of Portland, Oregon have lauded a drug dealer for his refusal to sell drugs to an undercover agent who happened to be eight months pregnant at the time of the interaction–and showing a baby bump..

Video footage shows the pregnant  and undercover officer approach Dermond Venson, the drug dealer, for a pound of Crack Cocaine. Venson declined, but the officer persisted. Venson eventually raised his voice in saying, “No crack. I got yo baby's back.”

After the ceremony for receiving a key to the

City for his Citizenship and Care for others, Venson stated the following: “My moma, rest her soul, was a crack addict; ain't no way was I gonna let that woman buy that shit from me.  I was a crack baby, speech impediment, brain lesions and all that. They didn't know what to do with me in school; I was a mess–ain't no way I would want no kid to go through what I went through.”

The mayor noted that other drug dealers should see Venson as a role model, a person with morals and values of which even the young teens entering the drug scene could model after.

“Let's be honest. Drugs are here; they're wrecking lives of our loved ones and are a headache for society as a whole.  But courageous people like Mr. Venson should be looked to as an example for how to ethically go about the business as street pharmacist.”

The mayor pardoned Venson for his crime of selling drugs to other people during the night in question–including teens under eighteen and women. At the time of this writing the mayor has plans for Venson to facilitate workshops in prisons for inmates convicted of selling drugs.

“The inmates who are soon to be released should hear this narrative and how Venson goes about his way as a street pharmacist,”stated the mayor.

The mayor is exploring ways to provide incentives for street pharmacists who decline to sell drugs to women with baby bumps.
